The New York City Port Authority approached LUCKYRICE to activate the World Trade Center’s Oculus Plaza, where a half-million people walk through everyday. Given the sacredness of the location, they wanted a partner who could respectfully create something that would serve to unite the community.

LUCKYRICE conceived and produced a rice paddy at the World Trade Center site, working with artists, rice farmers, and schools to create this special installation.

The LUCKYRICE installation was featured in a variety of news outlets, including the New York Times.

When the rice was ready to be harvested, LUCKYRICE celebrated by hosting a large-scale feast. Additionally, the rice harvest and installation was donated to farmers and community organizations, leading for a completely sustainable installation.
