Indonesian chef Erwin Tjahyadi hailed from Surabaya, East Java and grew up in East Los Angeles. Currently, he is the executive chef and creator of Bone Kettle, a Southeast Asian Restaurant in the heart of Old Town Pasadena and Komodo, one of LA’s hottest food businesses serving fast gourmet California fusion bites. His penchant for innovative techniques and fusing Asian flavors, Latin ingredients and California inspirations cemented him as one of LA’s godfathers of fusion cuisine.

What does the future of Asian food look like?

We think the future of Asian food will be increasingly vibrant and inclusive. It will continue to be a platform to represent strong unheard voices; bringing new unexplored cuisines into the spotlight. We love that Southeast Asian cuisine is having a moment.

What does celebrating 10 lucky years of LUCKYRICE mean to you?

Being a part of LUCKYRICE in the last 5 years has been such a highlight. We are so thrilled to be a part of a celebration of Asian cooking and Asian food excellence. It's a rare platform and a community of friends/fellow respected voices. We're even more excited that it's taking place at Grand Central Market, an iconic location for such an iconic celebration.
